Swayam Jyoti, a Mhow based NGO, organized a cancer awareness programme in Mhow on 19th August 2012. The Swayam Jyoti team of volunteers was led by Major Saurabh. Mr. Alok Gupta and the Cantonment Board Mhow had very kindly provided the use of the Town Hall and its facilities.

The 141 participants were mostly senior students, teachers and a few cancer survivors, one of whom joined the organizers and faculty in lighting the inaugural lamp.

The Foundation faculty included Mrs. Suneeta Gupte (Clinical Psychologist) who spoke on why every volunteer should be a counselor; Mrs. Mona Sadawarte who shared information on the Foundation’s awareness programmes; Dr. Baldev Dembani who talked on preventive and treatment aspects.

This programme came about thanks to the efforts of Mr. Dev Vasudevan.
